Understanding the complex associations between race and disability is essential to ensuring that all people can access their civil rights. This session will introduce the concept of intersectionality, with particular emphasis on the ways in which ableism and racism are interconnected. Content will consider how intersections of race and disability shape experiences and perceptions of disability, and how ADA Centers and other disability service organizations can outreach to, support, and collaborate with underserved communities.
