We are currently seeking nominations for Council of individuals with developmental disabilities from Pennsylvania who live or have lived in a state institution or Intermediate Care Facility (ICF). Individuals can nominate themselves or be nominated by another person.
About Our Membership:
By federal law, the PADDC has 23 members chosen by the Governor. Members come from different backgrounds and areas of the state. At least 60% must be people with developmental disabilities or their family members.
Five members are leaders (or their chosen representatives) from state departments that get federal money to support people with disabilities. In Pennsylvania, these departments are Labor & Industry, Education, Human Services, Aging, and Health.
The Council also includes people from two other important organizations: Disability Rights Pennsylvania and Temple University’s Institute on Disabilities. These are required by the federal Developmental Disabilities Act.
The rest of the Council members include someone from a nonprofit organization and someone from a local or non-government agency.
