Are you someone with a developmental disability (DD) who wants to make life better for people with DD in Pennsylvania? Do you care about advocacy and disability policy? Your personal experience and ideas could help shape our planning, projects and funding opportunities to support self-determination and inclusive lives for those with developmental disabilities in PA.

We currently have Council membership openings for people with developmental disabilities who live now, or used to live, in a state institution or Intermediate Care Facility (ICF). Individuals can nominate themselves or be nominated by another person.

About Our Membership:

By federal law, the PADDC has 23 members chosen by the Governor. Members come from different backgrounds and areas of the state. At least 60% must be people with developmental disabilities or their family members.

Five members are leaders (or their chosen representatives) from state departments that get federal money to support people with disabilities. In Pennsylvania, these departments are Labor & Industry, Education, Human Services, Aging, and Health.

The Council also includes people from two other important organizations: Disability Rights Pennsylvania and Temple University’s Institute on Disabilities. These are required by the federal Developmental Disabilities Act.

The rest of the Council members include someone from a nonprofit organization and someone from a local or non-government agency.

Nomination applications are due by December 1, 2025. If you need assistance completing the form, call us at 1-877-685-4452.
