A Far Cry From Fair: Findings from a new report on barriers to healthcare

February 5 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Event Navigation

Everyone deserves fair and equitable health care, yet people with disabilities face many barriers to receiving this kind of care. Nearly 35 years after the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) protecting and ensuring the rights of people with disabilities, medical facilities often lack basic accessibility features like adjustable-height exam tables, accessible diagnostic equipment, or patient materials in alternative formats. The cumulative impact of these barriers worsens health outcomes, limits independence, and negatively affects overall well-being. This webinar will present “A Far Cry from Fair: Health-care Access for People with Disabilities”, which highlights the persistent barriers that people with disabilities experience in navigating the healthcare system, combining published research with local voices to call for systemic reforms that ensure equitable care for all. You will also hear personal stories of people with disabilities discussing barriers they have encountered in the healthcare system, as well as their vision for what accessible care could look like.
