SUMMARY:Housing Without Restrictions: A Key to Avoiding Homelessness and Institutionalization
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will highlight the importance of Housing First for unhoused people with disabilities and the role it plays in advancing community living. Housing First is an evidence-based approach that helps people with disabilities access affordable permanent housing and services individually tailored to a person’s needs. Housing is not conditioned on people demonstrating successful participation in services. This enables people to achieve the stability that they need in order to focus on and address their needs holistically\, including mental health or substance use issues. Panelists will provide a history of the evolution of Housing First policy\, provide examples of how Housing First works and why it matters now more than ever for disabled people and other populations disproportionately affected by homelessness.

SUMMARY:Care and Work: Improving the Livelihoods of Family Caregivers and Care Workers
DESCRIPTION:The vast majority of family caregivers have jobs outside the home. Public and corporate policies need to be reshaped so working parents of young kids and family members caring for older and disabled loved ones can live dignified lives with economic security. Meanwhile\, professional caregivers struggle to make ends meet with low wages and meager benefits. We invite you to join us for a robust discussion on the state of care and work with Inimai Chettiar (A Better Balance)\, Jason Resendez (National Alliance for Caregiving)\, and Haeyoung Yoon (National Domestic Workers Alliance). Drawing on the data from Caregiving in the US 2025 report\, panelists will explore both the support needed by family caregivers in the workforce as well as the need to improve the quality of paid caregiver jobs.
