DESCRIPTION:To kick off Black History Month\, we invite you to join HBCU 20×20 and the National Organization on Disability on February 1\, 2024\, for “Black & Disabled: Creating Equity in Overlooked Spaces.” This panel conversation will cover the intersections of Blackness\, academia\, and career achievement while living with a disability. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about advocating for themselves and how to be an ally for those who are disabled. If you have different learning styles\, use an IEP\, 504\, adjustments\, or accommodations at school\, or a student with a disability\, we have news. SUMMARY:MEDICAL SAFEGUARDING: ADDRESSING VULNERABILITY IN MEDICAL SETTINGS (WEBINAR)
DESCRIPTION:In this webinar\, we’ll explore the unpleasant and paradoxical reality that patients in medical settings are exposed to dangers which can jeopardize their health and safety. This is a reality for all people\, but it is especially ominous for people who are members of a socially disadvantaged class\, including those who are elderly and/or impaired. Attendees will receive practical guidelines and measures for protecting people in medical settings\, gleaned from thirty years experience with the Medical Safeguards Project of Shriver Clinical Services Corporation in Massachusetts. This webinar will be open captioned and ASL interpretation will be provided.
