DESCRIPTION:The primary purpose of this two-day conference is to expand the capacity of youth\, family members\, schools and community partners regarding specific issues related to: effective employment and post-secondary educational practices\, develop healthy lifestyles; and the utility of assistive technology\, resources\, supports and services available to youth and families. A limited number of scholarships are available. DESCRIPTION:Pennsylvania Inclusive Higher Education Consortium’s 8th Annual Symposium is a day where thought-provoking speakers and discussion sessions will explore inclusive postsecondary education transitions for students\, families\, and systems. The event will be held at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center on August 8th (the day before the PA Community of Practice Transition Conference). The keynote address “The Many Faces of Ableism: From Fear and Hostility to Pity\, Envy and Inspiration” will be delivered by Dr. Michelle Nairo-Redmond who will be joined by Matthew Schwab\, Jennifer King\, and Dr. Nakeiha Primus Smith for a day of thought-provoking lectures and discussions.\n\nCost varies. Designed to accommodate all ages and abilities\, Inclusion Festival features sensory-friendly and empowering live music\, immersive experiences\, and a large variety of educational and recreational workshops. \nThis year’s event takes place on July 14-16\, 2023 with daily programming from 11am to 11pm on July 14th and July15th. Events of July 16th are intended for overnight campers only. \n\nThe cost is variable depending on how much of the festival you want to attend; if you plan to camp; etc. Some free admission will be provided to people with disabilities.
