DESCRIPTION:Every five years\, Pennsylvania’s Maternal and Child Health Services Title V Block Grant requires the Bureau of Family Health to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the needs of women\, infants\, children\, adolescents and children and youth with special health care needs in Pennsylvania. After reviewing available health data and seeking input from families and providers across the state\, the Bureau of Family Health is now working toward identifying the priorities that will drive the issues state and local Title V programs\, staff and grantees will address over the next five years. We want to hear from you! This is an opportunity for providers and families across Pennsylvania to share input on the potential priorities that will guide the issues Pennsylvania’s Title V programs will address over the next five years.  There will be six regional meetings held across the state.\n\nRefreshments will be provided. SUMMARY:Financial Empowerment Conference for Individuals with Disabilities
DESCRIPTION:Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation (PATF) is holding its first financial empowerment conference for people with disabilities on October 3\, 2019 in Harrisburg. “Vision for the Future” will bring together individuals with disabilities\, family members\, service providers\, nonprofit organizations\, and policy makers to discuss\, collaborate\, and learn about financial education. The conference is a one-day\, free\, accessible event open to the public. Registration is required. A limited number of scholarships are available to people with disabilities and their families to help defray the cost of travel and lodging. Certificates of completion will be available.

This workshop is about ideas for moving beyond interventions and coverage to a system that supports enduring\, freely chosen relationships. DESCRIPTION:Though disasters vary in type and scope\, they tend to disproportionately affect people with disabilities and others with access and functional needs. The role of Functional Assessment Service Teams (FAST) are to conduct assessments of disaster survivors with disabilities and others with access and functional needs and facilitate the process of getting essential resources. \nThis training will prepare those with experience working with and assessing the needs of individuals with disabilities and others with access and functional needs to put their skills to use in a disaster setting which may include a shelter\, assistance center\, or other community location to provide equal access and help individuals maintain their health\, safety\, and independence. \nParticipants will learn to: \n\nConduct assessments and evaluations of individuals with disabilities and others with access and functional needs.\nIdentify and track necessary resources.\nCoordinate services and maintain contacts and service notes.\nProvide technical assistance to emergency response workers.\nCoordinate and collaborate with emergency response management.\n\nThe intended audience for this training is those with experience working with and assessing the needs of individuals with disabilities and others with access and functional needs. However\, this is the pilot FAST training for Pennsylvania and registration will also be open to partners who may be assisting with FAST program development or are interested in learning about the function of FAST\, even if these individuals do not have direct service experience themselves. \nDisabilities and access and functional needs include\, but are not limited to: \n\nPhysical\, sensory\, developmental\, cognitive\, behavioral health\, or intellectual disabilities\nChronic conditions or injuries\nReliance on durable medical equipment or assistive technology\nSubstance abuse concerns\nChildren\, the elderly\, pregnant women\nLimited English Proficiency\nLow income or homeless\n\nPlease register by July 12.
