SUMMARY:File/Life: We Remember Stories from Pennhurst
DESCRIPTION:File/Life is a community-led creative exploration of the Pennhurst archives by seven archivists\, all people with disabilities and/or family members\, including two former Pennhurst residents. These community archivists share stories that made them listen\, feel\, imagine\, and remember. In doing so\, they ask the question: Can a file ever contain a life? \nThe material held in the Pennhurst archives includes administrative reports\, court testimony\, diagnostic forms\, medical logs\, field notes\, and institutional correspondence. Some files include more personal documents\, like letters from family members. The files  provide clues that we can use to try and understand the past\, but they alone do not tell a complete story. Often\, archival research is done by scholars\, but archives belong to all of us. What new stories might we find in the archives if we have personal connections to the history in the files? In collaboration with artists\, including a filmmaker\, an oral historian\, an archivist and a community arts producer\, the File/Life community archivists spent two years learning\, creating\, and sharing stories from the Pennhurst files. \nHours:\nThursday – Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.\nSaturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.\nSunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.\nRelaxed hours: Thursday – Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. \nAdmission\nAdmission is free. Ticket reservations are recommended.\nRegistration site: https://disabilities.temple.edu/programs-services/advocacy/media-arts-culture/file-life-stories

SUMMARY:Early Childhood Education Summit - Online
DESCRIPTION:We began planning the 2020 Early Childhood Education Summit in January. However\, as spring approached the spread of COVID-19 began to impact all aspects of our lives. When our programs and businesses began to close and plans for reopening included restrictions on group gatherings we were unsure what our options would look like come October.  Our decision … host a virtual Summit!  The ECE Summit will be a fully Virtual Experience bringing you the same great content in a robust and engaging way. Each day will feature a Keynote session and four tracks of workshop sessions. There will be opportunities to connect with your peers through live chat\, to interact with thought-leaders during Q&A and gain the knowledge you need to enrich your professional development in the care and education of young children. PQAS and Act 48 credit will be available. \nSessions will be recorded and paid attendees will be able to view sessions they missed or are interested in post Summit and earn PQAS and Act 48 credit. More information will be forthcoming as we navigate the tools to provide a vibrant\, interactive and informative Summit.  \nThank you for your support and we hope you will join us in October. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:"It Starts With Us" Community Chat - Online
DESCRIPTION:Abilities in Motion (AIM) invites you to join us for an engaging It Starts With Us chat series funded by a grant from the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council (PADDC). Our goal is to begin conversations that move the community toward creating the change they need to increase accessibility of their communities and feel empowered to do so. These chats also open the door for conversations about ADA regulations and disability inclusion\, social issues that may not be at the forefront of awareness for people without disabilities or without loved ones with disabilities.\n\nBringing together a general community group to discuss community access needs and devise advocacy strategy fosters unity and promotes attitudes of inclusion.\nContact Ralph Aurora with questions at raurora@abilitiesinmotion.org or call 610-741-3616. We’ll see you there!
